Originally published in 1956, this Matt Christopher novel still says a lot about team work and how to be a part of a team. Readers will be able to see themselves in this novel and learn how to correct their mistakes. I think there is a strong message here that readers will understand. Being a member of a baseball team is a timeless rite of passage for most readers and this will appeal to those who play the game. Good descriptions are used of the games and the camaraderie that exists on baseball teams. While this particular title is not reviewed, some titles in the series were reviewed positively in Hornbook Magazine - Spring 2009. Recommended
