The books provide youngest readers practice reading with simple story lines featuring a boy and his pet dragon as they visit new places, meet new friends and explore their feelings. Level C books have a simple story line with many repeated words and phrases that build fluency. There is less picture support and more variation in language patterns, requiring children to attend closely to print.
