Look Inside Earth landforms can look very different from place to place.  They can be hilly, flat, or mountainous. Landforms can change their shape with earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, mudslides or erosion. Some of these changes take a long time, and other changes happen quickly. This nonfiction Beginning-to-Read book contains high-frequency words and content vocabulary. Connecting Concepts pages include a word list along with activities to strengthen early science and literacy skills, such as understanding nonfiction text, science in the real world, science and academic language, fluency, and finding further information.

The Read and Discover Science series is an early introduction to science at low reading levels. These nonfiction, beginning readers align with Next Gen Science Standards. Reading and content reinforcement activities in the back. The series can be used with beginning readers to practice high-frequency words, academic language, and to expand comprehension of life, earth and physical science. Aligns with Next Generation Science Standards for Grades K-3.

As part of a series, this book does a stellar job of introducing the science of landforms in conjunction with building reading skills. So many of my younger students are fascinated by the earth and its vastness and this provides accessibility to the younger reader. The illustrations reinforce the vocabulary in a vibrant, realistic way.
What is especially valuable are the pages at the end which provide additional learning tools. including activities combining science and language. Well done! 5/5 stars

This is a really nice book with some great images.
It is easy to read and understand and I love the section at the end of the book that gives the learning points and the list of words featured in the book that they can learn as they read. A great book to get younger children interested in the world round them and the different landforms on Earth.

If I have learned one thing as a preschool teacher, it is that many preschoolers love rocks! Sharing the beautiful photographs and clearly written text about our Earth, its landforms and how these natural features are formed may pique the interest of many young learners. This series uses text features and scientific vocabulary to show beginning readers that this story is nonfiction. One of my favorite features, though, is the Connecting Concepts page at the end of each book in this series, giving teachers and caregivers the opportunity to extend the lesson.
The contrasting solid color corners was slightly distracting but otherwise SO well done. 5/5 stars

Landforms is a great easy to read book for young readers. It has beautiful color photographs to display mountains, hills, ect. I would recommend this book for young readers who are interested in science. Thank you for a great book. Landforms is a beginning to read book in the Earth Science series. This is the perfect book for young early readers to learn about the science of landforms and the many shapes they take in our earth. It is easy to read and the photographs are in gorgeous colors, and truly make it easy to understand what mountains, plateaus, hills, etc. are. The reading word list is simple and geared for early readers. I recommend this series for elementary school libraries, ESL programs, public libraries, and early learning centers that teach science, as well as preschools. 5/5 stars
