This is one of the latest volumes in a series on charming tales about a boy and his pet dragon. In this book the two visit a local produce market and learn about all the foods and colors there are to see. Common vegetables such as APPLES, BEANS, and CARROTS are capitalized and highlighted to help young readers learn them. Colorful pictures enhance the story and help young readers expand oral language and develop comprehension.

Sixty-one pre-primer vocabulary words are used in this simple text introducing the fruits, vegetables and flowers found at a farmer's market. Two pages in the back of the book suggest activities to reinforce phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, choral reading and comprehension discussions. This is another good addition to the series to be enjoyed by beginning readers and used by teachers.
