These are good books for beginning readers. They are really unthreatening to the kids, but they have enough happening in them that the kids don't get bored with them. The teachers are more likely to check them out than the kids. but the kids don't complain about having to read them.

Colorful pictures with lots of details mean that even a non-reading child (toddlers and pre-K) will enjoy looking at this book. The text is simple and slightly repetitive, ideal for beginning readers, and the story walks through a typical beach experience, including the confused child wondering where the beach is when the car stops.

This book is perfect for beginning-of-the-year first graders (or advanced kindergarteners). Filled with sight words and colorful pictures, this is perfect for classrooms, too.
