This book explains the history of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team, highlighting the great moments and players, including informaton on coaches, uniforms, the team's home stadium, and rivalries.  There are a lot of photographs, so low level readers would enjoy it.  Boys that check out books in the library often first search for sports books, especially football books, so it is essential to have a variety.  Although Notre Dame may not be a favorite of our students, the diversity of books is essential in exposing students to unfamiliar information.  A time line and glossary are included in the book.

This is another great title of Mark Stewart.  It is part of a seven-title series, "Team Spirit: College Football".  This one gives the history of one of the first and greatest college football teams.  It includes profiles of players, stories of specific games and moments in games, descriptions of the uniforms and much more.  It is well-written with different types of text, including charts, a map, and a timeline.  There is a table of contents, glossary, bibliography, and index, providing a great way for students to reinforce the reading and research skills that they need to learn while focusing on content that they are interested in.  Highly Recommended.
